Any reason why you went with this instead of the more ubiquit ous LS swap? What are your power goals? Is this going to be a cruiser essentially?

1. I always heard the JZ was the Japanese LS. I had never driven a 2J car before, and was curious. Plus, it’s a straight six, so my VIN is correct . Also, whenever someone gets uptight about LS swaps in Mustangs I show them this and really piss them off.
2. I would like 450-500hp at the tires. Currently at 300, I just need an ECU, injectors and maybe a manual transmission to get there (lots of stand alone ECU’s don’t play well with the Toyota automatic)
3. Yeah it’s just a cruiser. I don’t race, I do take it to shows but it’s not a “ show car” . I like to jump in with the wife and cruise out to the ocean for the weekend or whatever. I don’t want it to be SO NICE that I’m afraid to take my eyes off it.

Sounds like you’ve accomplished what you set out to do. That’s awesome!
A 2JZ should suit your needs really well. I love straight 6's and you can’t really go wrong with it.
If you want to stay automatic and you aren’t concerned with fuel economy, I’m pretty sure there are tuning solutions for th400 and/or th350 setups. But you may need a separate controller for the transmission. At least you wouldn’t have to worry about either of those breaking or slipping down the road.
There are 4l80e and 4l60e solutions too, but that’s a bit trickier I think. 4l60e would require beefing up too.
